RUTH, FOLLOWING IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF FAITH, Thu, 3/7/2013

Pursued By Grace Series

Ruth 3:1-11
FINDING YOUR PLACE AT HIS FEET, Lesson 11c

V. 10-11 THE PROMISES RECEIVED AT HIS FEET

V. 10a He Received Her - Imagine the fears that must have occupied her mind as she lay there. "What if he rejects me?" "What if he misinterprets my actions?" "What if he publically humiliates me?" "What if he drives me away and refuses to have anything further to do with me?" She needed not worry, for when Boaz speaks he says "Fear not!" Boaz wanted to be close to her too, as much as she did! You need never fear Jesus turning you away! He loves you too much to do that, (John 6:37). When you come to Him humbly, honestly, openly and willingly, you will get what you come after. If you need salvation, you can get it at His feet. If it is a closer walk that is your goal, you will find it at His feet. You need not fear rejection, but you should prepare for a big change of life!

V. 11b He Reassured Her - Boaz responds to Ruth's request by telling her that he will do everything necessary to see that they are together. He will take care of all the matters involved. She had been told that if she could just get to his feet, he would tell her what to do, (v. 4). She got there and she was told to trust Boaz, he would see to all the details! What a truth! If we can ever just get to His feet, we will find that He is willing to do everything to see to it that our relationship is everything that it should be. You see, all the Lord wants from us is our obedient love. He wants us to be at His feet. When we are there, He will take care of all the details of life, (Matt. 6:25-33). By the way, His name is still Jehovah-Jireh, (Gen 22:14). Those who are at His feet know that they can simply trust Him to see to all the details of life!

V. 10, 11c He Rejoiced Over Her - Boaz praises Ruth for her love for him and for her godly lifestyle. Her behavior and godly life have worked together to bring all this to pass for her. The smile of the Savior is the great reward for those who pay the price to get themselves at his feet. Regardless of the price, regardless of the effort, His smile, His blessings, and His closeness are worth it all! You see, nothing gives Him more pleasure than being able to take your life and mine, hold it out before the world and say, "This is what I can do with a life laid at my feet!"; (Eph. 2:10; 2 Cor. 4:7).

Conc: When Ruth made the effort to get at the feet of Boaz, everything in her life changed. Our heavenly God, the Lord Jesus Christ, can and will do the same for you, if you will get at His feet. Who possesses the courage and the resolve to move from where you are right now to get to His feet? If you have never been to His feet, then I invite you to come right now for salvation. If you have been there and have wandered away, then I invite you to return to His feet and rediscover the blessings that can only be found there. If you are at His feet right now, then I invite you to come before Him, thank Him for allowing you to be there and ask Him to help you remain as close to Him as you need to be.

TODAY’S VERSE!
Romans 9:26 (New King James Version (NKJV)

26 “And it shall come to pass in the place where it was said to them,
‘You are not My people,’
There they shall be called sons of the living God.”

TODAY’S HYMN!
“God Holds The Future In His Hands” By: James Rowe (1922)

Dread not the things that are ahead,
The burdens great, the sinking sands,
The thorns that o’er the path are spread,
God holds the future in His hands.
Refrain
God holds the future in His hands
And every heart He understands.
On Him depend,
He is your Friend,
He holds the future in His hands.

We know not what tomorrow hides,
Of sun or storm or good or ill;
We only know His dear hand guides,
And He will be our Father still.
Refrain

His hand created earth and sky,
The zephyrs and the storms that rage,
And years to come and years gone by
To Him are but an open page.
Refrain

Live close to Him and trust His love,
Assured that while on earth we roam,
Whate’er may come, He bends above
To guide His children safely home.
Refrain

TODAY’S PRAYER!
Father of all Humanity, God of Love, Grace and Mercy! Prompt our spirit to hear, believe and obey Your Word. Help us to always walk closely with You so we may never fail to recognize You prompting our spirit. Enable us to not only to identify it, but also never to ignore it. Help us to trust and act on Your prompting. Grant us peace so we can hear even the faintest whisper to our hearts above all the noises of this world. Keep us from becoming dull of hearing. Attune our hearts to Your voice. Leads us in the paths of our Savior, Jesus Christ. It is in His wonderful name that we pray and ask these things. Am,en!

Thank you Vic for another awesome lesson, hymn and prayer. Being at the feet of Jesus is my desire. Walking closely with Him and never having to fear of rejection is all we need and being at His feet, is what Jesus desires from us. May we be there with Him and obey Him as we speaks to us. Thank you Vic for the goodie and note. Sending you God's richest Blessings for your teaching and sharing God's word with us.
Blessings,
Joan

I loved this statement, You see, nothing gives Him more pleasure than being able to take your life and mine, hold it out before the world and say, "This is what I can do with a life laid at my feet!"; (Eph. 2:10; 2 Cor. 4:7).

2 Cor 4:7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.

God grant us the humility to be useful vessels.

It is comforting to know He LONGS to have the closest relationship ever with us! May I not crowd out my time with Him with other things. He deserves to be first and best!!!

Thank you for the goodie yesterday, Vic.

DID YOU KNOW my first fear was that of, "Did He receive me?" Then came fears from without and within.

God does reassure and rejoices over us. It becomes an unrecognizable long process for some, lest we forget out humble beginnings. We now recognize we were sitting at His feet, and yet, walking in His footsteps. God bless!

Thank you for this lesson and hymn, and the prayer that I have made my own. Surely I have heard and yes, sometimes have put-off obeying God's Spirit when He prompted me to call somebody, or accept an opportunity to serve, or some other act I was not willing to quickly obey. God forgives such willful acts of disobedience, but I know I am the one who suffers loss, for although I am important to him, it is for my own good always, that I promptly obey His voice. Thank you for always encouraging us to quickly obey and do as our Lord asks, and to stay very close to Him, even as He desires our company. How blessed to be called the friends of God, and to be invited to have unbroken fellowship with Him. Praise Him... for He is so good to us!

May He abundantly bless you and yours this day, my friend and teacher, Joanie
