Today I turned down the first work function in 2 years.

Getting together for all-you-can-eat and all-you-can-drink work parties is common here in Japan. It's a time when people can relax, unwind and get to know each-other. There's usually the first party, followed by second party (karaoke) and sometimes third... forth... sunrise, you get the picture. It's good for team building, but I gotta say I'm concerned for people's livers.
I enjoy a glass of wine, 2 is my limit.

So, why did I turn this one down? The cost is really adding up. This one was going to cost almost R1000 (including food, drink, taxi and second party). 1000 in South African currency, 10,000 Japanese yen... that's a month's petrol!

On the up side I won't have to save up calories beforehand and it'll be an evening where I won't have to battle to count calories! :D
