OUCH! That hurt!

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

I went for a 35 min walk today, a bit chilly on way back. Went down to Library for book club. And I ended up with a cup of boiling water spilled over my leg.... after that I chose a cup of cold water instead of tea. I put cold paper towel on it and they gave me polysporin. And when I came home I put a cold facecloth on it. I don't know if it was burning or if it felt like it was frozen, but it was sore... It's hours later, but the pain has finally stopped. The red has come back out on it. I'll see what it looks like in the a.m. and hope it is not all blistered or anything.

I did meet a new friend and we exchanged numbers at the book club. She just moved here too, she's a teacher off on stress leave.... we'll have to get together and get to know each other better.

Also, the lady who wrote the book (in longhand) asked me if I was still interested in typing it for her and asked what I would charge. I haven't a clue. Does anyone know how they charge for typing these days? This other teacher said like $3 a page, dh suggested $20 ah hr. She said it is probably about 450 pages... Any suggestions gratefully accepted. I type over 80 wpm after doing it for 35 years....

WEll, another really lousy sleep last nite, probably the major reason for the accident with the boiling water... First, what happened librarian was pouring water from kettle into a stryofoam cup and it tipped - in center of table) and we cleaned that up. When she went to fill the cup the second time, I think I reached to hold it, and I'm not sure how it ended up in my lap.......

so on that note, I should try to get to bed early, don't need any more accidents...

Your poor leg....hope it is healing ok!!!

Did you take aspirin or something?

$1 a page is more than reasonable but you could go higher if you like!

I hope that the burn didn't blister hun because you don't need a scare on your lap before the summer hits. I have been there myself and I know how it feels to be burned. I just hope that you are okay now.

Take care of yourself hun because no one else will, we on SP takes care of each other and I am here for you.

I'm sorry to hear about the accident. Hoping you feel better this morning. Glad you have a chance to earn some extra money. I don't have a clue on how much you should charge, though. Also glad you met a new friend. That's always good to do that.

Oh dear! Girl, I can surely feel for you!
Had the same thing happen to me some time ago. Twice actually, on separate occasions however. Once, as I was pouring hot water into a cup for tea, while holding the cup, which I completely over-filled, like ten times over, and scalded my hand really badly. And the other time was, when immediately upon pouring boiling hot water into my cup, it tipped over and all ran onto my upper leg (I was sitting down at the time).

Anyway, I immediately took the most common homeopathic remedy for burns and then completely immersed the limbs into cold water. For the hand, I immersed it into a large bowl of cold water, and for my leg, I sat in my bath tub filled half full with cold water, (BURR), as I shivered from the nearly unbearable cold. Anyway, on both occasions, after suffering the cold water until the burn let up and the remedy kicked in, all pain left and there was no blistering or any kind of scar afterwards.

Not sure what one charges for typing up a book, but I see others have left suggestions. Hope all goes well with this. Oh, and I think it is wonderful that you made yet another friend. You definitely have a warm and inviting personality that others are attracted to!

Hope you're feeling much better!

Hopefully the burn will be okay. Check on Craig's list to see what others are charging. I just discovered that Craig's list is a good source of employment leads.

Oh I hope you heal from that burn! Aloe Vera is good for burns, too.

I can relate to the not sleeping...I am hoping for more than a couple of hours tonight.

Have a great week! emoticon
