Today's update on my mother....

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

Today was chemo day number 2 for mom (and I as I stayed with her) and I believe the chemotherapy scheduler made a mistake in telling us yesterday that today would be 3 hours long.

The session today and tomorrow are and were both 20 minutes long. NOT 3 hours. If this keeps happening, something must be done.

Also I received a book at the chemotherapy place about care giving for a person with cancer and it was written by the American Cancer Society so it will be very helpful to me.

The only thing mother has had to enjoy food wise today was a small microwave cheese pizza.

I wonder if the nausea has started and I don't know it yet?.

Also we were told that she will lose her hair in about the second week of, depending on this weekend's weather pattern for Ohio, we may need to go wig shopping.

She is wanting one that has bangs in front and is of natural color.

Also we finally received in the mail a return on her handicapped placard as her sister took it with her the last time she visited us in Ohio.

Now, she (mother's sister) just has mother's wheelchair. However, our neighbors who are transporting mother to chemotherapy have an extra wheelchair.

She might be lucky and not lose her hair. My grandmother lost a little bit, but not much, it just came out in the hairbrush more easily. Take whatever help they offer (American CAncer Society has been great for my friend and her husband who is going through week 3 of chemo now).

Keep up the good work with your mom. She may not lose her hair. Some do some don't. What kind of wig will she go for? Hope you find something really nice.
