I'm in preparation mode this week. I had my pre-op visit with my primary care physician yesterday. I had an EKG, an overall check up and we went over my blood work. My lab numbers are fantastic! This is another example of a NSV (non scale victory) and my doctor was pleased that I have lost 11 pounds since the last time I saw him. I had additional blood work today plus a chest x-ray.
I managed to do 65 minutes on the stationary bike after my x-ray and blood work but I was really struggling for some reason. I brought down the resistance level on the bike which helped. I ran some errands and worked in about 3 hours of walking during my time out and about. When I got home, I was exhausted. I'm fairly sure that one contributing factor was the amount of protein that I had consumed between breakfast and 2p.m. I only had about 20 grams, which wasn't nearly enough. This is something that I struggle with every day. I will make an extra effort tomorrow to take a snack with more protein than the snack that I brought along with me today. That should help the fatigue issue. Old habits sometimes get in the way despite the new habits we have in place. I can tell that I'm anxious and stressed by the fact that I didn't eat enough today. That combined with my hypothyroidism makes my metabolism really tank. I will do better because I want to have energy and feel better.
I only have a few more things left to complete before I'm ready to have my surgery. I'm proud of myself for being so organized. That just goes to show you how valuable all of those years of teaching and creating schedules and lesson plans are in my current life!
