Day 5 blog Making Hiking a habit again Part 1

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

Now that my DH is feeling better and able to walk further we are renewing our hiking habit. Its a good and enjoyable habit that we like to do together. His medication is working well.

It did not rain today as expected and forecast, but, the weather was dull and cloudy although quite warm @ 14 deg Celsius.

I was very tired after 2 previous days of hard gardening. Also, my DH kept me awake half the night last night. So we decided to recharge our batteries and go for a short hike, just 2 miles.

We were planning to go to Catherington Down which is a SSS I (Sight of Special Scientific Interest.), But when we got there, the Ranger was strimming and it was noisy, so we looked at the other side of the road and headed for the footpath across the fields towards Hinton Daubney.

The pictures are not very good as it was so dull and misty.

Looking towards the North (right) at beginning of the path.

Looking South from the same spot. The road is on the left of picture.

Looking East towards Catherington Down. The Ranger truck is by the gate.

More tomorrow

Looks like a great place to hike! Now that our weather is getting a little warmer, I look forward to getting out and walking again. Sounds like the two of you have a great plan.

Glad you hubby is feeling better. I enjoy hiking too. It is so much fun. My hubby doesn't really care for it though. I'm glad it's something you and hubby can share. Enjoyed the pics.

So glad your DH is better and you can go for a hike. Nothing feels so good like being out in fresh ari!
We have freezing weather here, was -24 Celcius this morning, and snow and ice everywhere so not safe for being out walking. We have had gloomy days most of this very long, cold winter here in Saskatchewan, Canada, started early Oct 15, can't wait for ANY sign of spring!!
Hopefully, you will enjoy more days of hiking with perhaps some sunshine to enjoy!

Great to go for a hike. I should do more of it myself. I had a grand day yesterday with the other Tasmanian Sparkie and we went for a bit of a different hike. Great fun.
I would like to go back there and take a video ... like Connie does, and put it up on a blog.

Catch you tonight Ellen. emoticon

Sounds like plan my DH went out and used the snowbloiwer so that means we can do our walking. I loved to walk the farm fields using the country code it was very important to hikers. I wish it was like that here. Most areas are off limits and with hunting it is not very smart to go too far in areas not familiar to you. I think you have a perfect area to walk in.
HUGS Pat in Maine. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
