A NEW attitude that is. Why do we often try so hard to find the closest parking spot? This semester I decided to give up my parking pass. It's only $10 a month but that's also the same cost as the fitness center so it sounds like a good trade. I plan to ride my bike to work more often and I don't really need to park right next to my building so I finally decided to do it. I had gotten in the habit of parking at the furthest section of the parking lot anyway (along with farther from the grocery store entrance, etc.) so why not extend that a little. There are usually plenty of parking spots on the street so it's not like I won't be able to find an open space. Then the last snow storm hit and when they plowed the street I couldn't get my car out over the drifts without the help of 5 students. The streets were a mess for several days so I had to find a "safer" place to park. I realized the gym parking is free and only half a mile from my building so I gave it a try. It's not the most convenient place to park but it works for me and it gets me more steps on my FitBit. So where do you park?
