Join Me for Another DietBet on Monday, March 11!

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

I posted a few weeks ago about starting my first DietBet, where I'd be trying to lose 4% of my starting weight in 4 weeks! A big challenge, yes, but one I decided to accept! Well, "Mission Slimpossible" wraps up on Sunday, March 10. How have I done? So far, in about 3.5 weeks, I've lost 6.6 lbs! I've had a setback or two along the way, but with the DietBet and our little team of 6, I've gotten back on track quickly and kept going. To each the 4% goal, I'll need to lose another 4.8 pounds by Sunday, which is a lot. I'm determined to push to the end, because the Big Picture goes well beyond Sunday!

Because I want to keep the momentum going, I've decided to start Mission Slimpossible 2, which will start on Monday, March 11. All it takes is $10 in the pot to play Misson Slimpossible 2. Everyone puts in the same amount, and everyone who reaches the goal of 4% of their own starting weight will split the pot. It's cheaper than Weight Watchers, and you'll be surprised at how motivating it is! You can set your weight to private, so no one will know how much you weigh if you don't want them to!

Interested? Hope you'll join us! Here's the link: www.dietbet.com/games/10

Very interesting idea. This is the first I have ever heard of DietBet. I'll have to consider it!

CREATINGCASSIE, you're right to keep your eye on the prize and do this for yourself! I was surprised, too, by 1-2 people who seemed to lose a big chunk early, but then I remembered that everyone's 4% may be different from my double-digit number. (Someone starting at 150, for instance, would be shooting for "only"a 6 lb. loss.) Also, people doing a DietBet game have the option of weighing in up to two days beforehand. The flexibility is nice; it also gives some people a running start!

I don't know that I'll make the 4% goal this time, but I've lost (and kept off) more than I would have otherwise. Next time, my 4% will be a little less!

I do plan to do a Mission Slimpossible 3, and welcome all Sparkers!

How exciting! We have 65 people in the one I'm doing now-and I have to say, it's not all people I know, so I try to keep away from looking at the page because I feel some people may have "frontloaded" their initial weigh-in. One girl posted that on Day 1, she lost 29% of her 4%. And some people are already at 66% and it's day 3. It was a little frustrating, but then I had to remind myself that I'm doing this for ME, no one else...if people want to be unfair just to win a few extra bucks, they are only hurting themselves because that's not healthy. As long as I lose my 4% I can be proud that I did it the right way :)

Please let me know if you do a Mission Slimpossible 3 after you finish this one because I will definitely join! Mine ends April 1st and I'd like to get through this one to see how it goes before I jump headfirst into another one at the same time :)
