So today, I did my 2nd day of Jillian Michael's 30 day shred. Yesterday was Day 1. Oh my!! SO very very sore. It is hard to get up and down from the couch/table/out of bed, etc. I might just stand all day just so I don't have to get up and down again. I know I am in better shape than I was 2 months ago, but Jillian kicked my butt, and so I guess that is a testament to how out of shape I still am. I did workout 1 and followed the beginner's trainer (the easiest one to follow along with) and still whoa.
I did finish the workout to the best of my ability, but by the 2nd cardio and 3rd cardio circuits I could not do the jumping jacks, So I just kind of did the movements to the best of my ability and if I really just couldn't, I at least didn't stop moving. Like she has you do jumping jacks, lots of jumping jacks, and then jumping rope for cardio (and starting with the 2nd one she has you squat and do punches. Owww!!!!)
But I have come a long way. I have NEVER been able to do jumping jacks before, just like, the coordination of the movement itself has always been to hard for me. So, I did the first 2 rounds of jumping jacks, and 2 rounds of jumping rope. The way the 30 day shred works is she does a little warm up (jumping jacks) and then she does like 3 - 6 minute sets including 3 minutes of strength, 2 of cardio, and 1 of abs. Then at the end she stretches you for about 2 minutes. But the strength and abs I am able to push through. I might be able to go quite as intense as the advanced trainer does (there is a beginner and an advanced who goes harder) but I'm able to do the beginner at least.
By the 2nd set, I cannot do all of the jumping jacks, so I do some, and then do just the motions, and the do a couple more, etc. Same with the jump rope. My heart rate is still way up and I'm still pushing myself very hard. I am able to push through and do the strength (tho when we squat and do curls with the weights (I used 2 pound weights today. Yesterday I used water bottles.), it really hurts my thighs and calves. They are on fire right now!!! I also do the ab stuff ok too. Then she gets to the 3rd round, and I cannot do but 1 or two actual jumping jacks, the rest of the time, I just keep my feet and hands moving in that motion, just not as quick.
She says on day 5 or 6 you will see your endurance much better than what it is, so I'm going to update later and we shall see. I also took measurements today, so we'll see how many inches/pounds I lose at the end of the 30 days.
Weight today-277 but my monthly cycle is about to start, so it might be a little higher than supposed to be.
