Wednesday! No snow today!

No sun, but no snow,,

I fear that some people are under a mistaken impression of these blogs. I have been blogging about U of M helping my daughter. She is not applying for a scholarship, she is seeking medical help. It has been fully described in previous blogs, but basically she cannot work due to her severe condition, so cannot get insurance with no job or $$, so no medical help. I took her to the University of Michigan, but without lots of cash or insurance, they cannot treat her. I was under the impression that it being a world renowned teaching hospital, there would be some type of trade-off like students/interns learning from her and she get a f=break of some kind for being a teaching tool. NO go..

Applications I am filing out and she is filling out are for help with the costs of her treatment.. It may take months to find out and her skin will be back to square one by then,, it is only two hours drive there, BUT it is not an easy set of roads to drive. THe most congested and busiest and most dangerous in the state. It did not help that we were racing a big rain/sleet/snow storm when we went the first time.
Without help from U of M coordinators, there is no treatment option left for her.

I ask for deep prayers for my DD to get the help she wil need for the rest of her life.. there is no cure and very few treatment options that allow a person to function normally. She is always very upbeat with people on Sparks, but her own situation is dismal.. I wish I could take on the pain of this disease for her...

Oh boy there has to be a way to treat DD. See this stuff makes me angry - its seems that they ( Hospitals ) make the situation so difficult to get required attention. I cannot see why DD does not qualify for SS benefits. Especially when I see the dope addicts getting it - very frustrating - You are both in my Prayers - Hugs Karen emoticon emoticon

Michigan has assistance programs. The Social Worker at the hospital should have talked to you about these. That's his/her job!

Hopefully, this website will help.

No social security disability? If she's turned down the right lawyer should be able to help.
There should be support groups for people with her illness, too. Maybe online? They may be able to give some advice.

And your state doesn't offer any sort of medi-caid/medi-cal? I can't believe there isn't anything anyone can do for her. I know homeless and indigent persons (in most states) can get some sort of medical assistance. I mean, especially since this is preventing her from working. They should be able to disable her? Strange. So sorry you are all going through this. Will be praying.
