Getting Organized

Wednesday, March 06, 2013

I was multi-tasking this morning (tsk, tsk) and was checking out some old bookmarks. One site I revisited was a good resource for slow cooker recipes. She has a ton of other resources on her site though, including this article on The Daily 7, seven brilliant tips to minimize the pain of housekeeping by doing a few things daily.

Number 1: Make Beds Right Away

Number 2: Do One Complete Load of Laundry

Number 3: Empty All Garbage Cans

Number 4: Keep Your Kitchen Sink Empty

Number 5: Clean Up After Yourself and Help Children Do the Same

Number 6: Bathroom Wipe-Down

Number 7: Before Bed 10-Minute Clean Up

Making beds first thing would mean kicking my husband and cat out of bed, so maybe my daily list just got skinnied down to six! I think laundry and the kitchen sink are my two favorites off this list. My household has gone from 5 to 2.75 people and yet my laundry is out of control. One load a day would definitely help me out. And amen to keeping the kitchen sink empty. A sink full of dirty dishes makes it difficult to prepare meals and is just yucky and chaotic feeling.

I agree about the laundry, mine seems to multiply when I'm not looking. I'm one of those people that can't go to bed if there are dishes in my sink. Great list!

You'll get there! I agree a sink full of dirty pots and pans, plates and cups is probably the most depressing thing. Have a great day. emoticon emoticon

There is a Fly Lady team here at Spark. My first habit for her was to shine my sink, and keep it shining. And that spread. other habits similar to your daily 7. I'd recommend the team for anyone wanting to manage the home in a streamlined fashion!!

it truly is amazing how the clutter in our lives and our homes affect us women...... we are never really relaxed knowing there is always something that need to be done..... My Dh is a sweetheart but it(clutter) does not bother him in the least !! Just picking up and trying to stay on top of things would really help. Thanks for sharing !!

I checked the site . that list looks a lot like the Flylady system and she had an inspiration too.I have somehow managed to conquer the visible clutter and I'm stuck in my drawers emoticon

I am with you on the messy sink & the laundry. I'm a party of 1 when it comes to laundry but if I don't do a load every other day, it gets out of hand! As for the dirty dishes, the BF loves to "let them soak". That drives me nuts! Rinse it off and put it in the dishwasher!

Thanks for sharing the list!
