Do you know what happened in my family in October? (Specifically my sister and daughter)? If not, read this blog first:
Well, that same sister broke her leg in THREE PLACES when she went to take the dogs out around 9pm on Saturday night.
We didn't realize it happened right away, we kind of assumed she took them for a walk when she didn't come back right away. She was outside for 15-20 minutes with a broken leg on snowy, icy cement. It really makes me feel awful knowing we didn't think to check -- but she takes the dogs out all the time, we never checked on her before.
Anyway, we called 9-11 and it took SIX Firefighter/EMTs to get her onto the stretcher. Her arm is still broken so they had to be VERY careful. She is also 6'3" and around 260 pounds. I watched in shock and realized that if I ever fell, it would be so embarrassing to see how many grown men it would take to lift me at 336 pounds.
Heidi was in the hospital all night and it wasn't until almost 2am when they splinted the leg and admitted her. This is one of the FASTEST working hospitals in the area, so this was CRAZY to me.
She had surgery on her leg Sunday evening and now the road to healing begins.
Why am I telling all of you about this? Well... it affects my journey. It has put me under a great deal of stress (as you can imagine) and also has messed up my sleeping pattern. I generally go to bed at 11pm each night and wake at 7am. A perfect 8 hours of sleep, give or take with how well I sleep. Well, I got MAYBE 2 hours of sleep on Saturday night and maybe another four on Sunday night.
Needless to say, my routine is messed up. I need to learn how to balance life and my own needs... this is one MAJOR challenge, but if I want to have a happy life, I need to learn this lesson once and for all.
Have a good week, Spark Family.
