March already? Eeeks

Well, March has snuck up on me. And so has our first trip of the year.

Early last week, I woke up to a crink in my neck. And its been bothering me to some extent since. I've had heating pads on it, taken it easy, done some stretches, etc. I suspect stress is a factor. At least my 1 week vacation should help out there! But more on that in a bit.

I've slacked on most things lately. With my neck, I didn't feel up to going to my toning classes, and only made it to 1 Zumba class last week. This week I worked a couple night shifts, so class wasn't an option.

Water - uggg - been having issues getting back on that bang wagon. Hopefully this week I can get back on board. I'll be outside a lot more, with a lot more water close by, so easier to stick with it.

I've been preparing a lot more meals at home. I know my portions are still off (I haven't been tracking, but I know I'm eating too much), but I know I first had to get back into the kitchen. We have a good friend who is leaving the islands next week to take a job on the mainland, and its been on short notice. As a result, there have been several festivities. There was big shin-dig at his house (along with 4 roommates who all happen to be going their separate ways) last weekend. Despite all the food there, I didn't eat that much, and because I was working the next day (at 6am) and was the driver, I only had 1 beer.

So vacation time. Time to fly to south Texas, Brownsville to be precise for the airshow. A lot of great friends, great times, and a stress reliever. Of course prepping for the trip has been somewhat stressful. I am determined to continue my streak of making birthday cards, and other cards/goodies, for my now 15 nieces and nephews. Until last year, I never sent them a birthday card. They would all get gifts at Christmas time, but I just didn't do birthdays. Last year I decided I wanted to, but that I was jumping in with both feet and making them. I've definitely come along way since last year. Having finally regained my craft area in the spare bedroom, its a place I can go and just do what I want. It also helps that by keeping my hands busy, I don't snack as much. But with 4 birthdays this month, and this trip, I had the pressure on to finish the cards yesterday so I could mail them on time. I made it, but it also meant that I didn't get much packing done. And then I worked the night shift. I'll be finishing up at 6am. Then home for a 3-4 hour nap. Then up to pack and make sure things are ready for the cat sitters. My husband has to be at work/school until 4:30pm, so I'll pick him up then and we'll head to the airport for our 7:45pm flight. Lucky me gets to get the 3 suitcases, and 3 carry-ons down and loaded into the car. And since our building is repaving part of the parking structure, I have to go the long way to get the car.

Needless to say, I should be good and tired for that flight tonight!

    Wow - you are off on a vacation! Good for you. It does sounds like it comes at a perfect time for you... vacations are always so great to help us re-calibrate as we refresh. I have a feeling you'll come back feeling a lot less stresses and raring to go!

Hope you have time most days to get some fitness in - although at the airshow maybe you do a lot of physical activity, I don't know.
Anyway, have a terrific time and travel safely!

    Hope you get to see some bluebonnets! They're pretty sparse around here despite the warm temps.... been too dry!
