Hello ! I haven't been on here in a while. I am so lost in this world. Everytime I try to workout and eat right I seem to mess up over and over again. What can I do to control my self? I definitely want to lose some weight and eat healthy so I can be happy with my life. Can someone please help!!!!!!!!!!!! emoticon

    Thank you all for you encouraging words! I think that my problems was trying to do it all at once so I will begin this journey once again but small steps and I will definitely let you all know how I am doing. Thanks again! I really needed this emoticon emoticon

    You really can do this! So many years I felt this way. I'm now 62 pounds lighter and feel so unbelievable. Some of the most important things that helped me:

    1. When you have a craving tell yourself you could have it if you wanted but you need to drink a great big glass of water first. Drink it slowly. By the time you get through the water the craving may have passed. If it hasn't, have another glass of water.

    2. When someone brings donuts to work or something I repeat to myself, "NOTHING tastes as good as thin and healthy feels". Then I think about what it feels like running up the stairs when I used to have to practically pull myself up. I also imagine looking at myself in a full length mirror when I'm at my goal weight (I still have 103 pounds to go). Wow! I look fantastic!

    The mind is the most powerful tool we have to help us reach our goals. You just have to believe that you can, and you will. I'd be happy to be your weight loss buddy if you'd like.

    Hi! welcome back! I think that just by posting your feelings is helping you to recognize things you want to change. Old habits die hard and in my case, Very Hard. Messing up is easy because we don't plan things that come up. Maybe if you plan or say to yourself I am going to allow myself something that you like, and portion it out so you don't over do it, you wont give up over and over again. If losing weight was immediate it wouldn't be so hard. But look for the small rewards, how you feel that day, allow yourself to be happy and recognize the good things that you are doing for yourself. Don't think until this happens or until that happens I will not be happy. Get out of that All or Nothing mode of thinking. Its step by step and when you step back one step don't give up, just regroup, replan and start again. emoticon emoticon emoticon

    The first thing you absolutely must do is learn to forgive yourself and start today brand new!

    Do this everyday while making small changes.

    First small change.

    Stop sodas, drink water only. Sounds easy but it's not. Once you have that under control, start tracking food using the nutritional tracker. Don't worry about how many calories you are taking in right now and don't worry about exercise.

    After you get the tracking down, you will start to see what you eat. You will automatically start making healthier choices to watch that tracker calories go down.

    Once that is complete, you can exercise 10 minutes per day....just 10 minutes is all it takes. Then you go 15 minutes and more.

    Little by little is the way to go. Don't try and do everything at once, it's too overwhelming.

    If you mess up....forgive and forget and start the next day fresh :)

    What works for me might not work for some others, but there are certain constants that all should follow. I started with tracking my nutrition; I know, its a pain in the 'you know what", but it must be done. It gets easier as you do it and I did it long before I started changing my eating habits. Start there and you will be off and running on this journey. Healthy living to you. emoticon Benny

    If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. As far as working out you have to find an activity or workout that you enjoy and then do it. in reference to the food you need to start small and then graduate to drastic. Start by watching your portion. Remember half your plate should be veggies, a quarter should be protein and the remaining quarter should be carbs. I know it's easier said than done. But it starts with baby steps. if you mess up tomorrow just get back on the wagon and start over the next day emoticon emoticon
