Today was it brief. I think my all time fastest meditation session. Four minutes before the day's activities interrupted and duty called. I think I have already mentioned that every morning before work, I turn off the radio in my car and take a few moments to reflect and center. I may not have mentioned that work is located in strip mall. So I park in the parking lot of strip mall, turn off the radio, close my eyes and usually do a quick body scan or awareness of breathe meditation. This morning I felt like I had just began when someone knocked on my window. It was a client on her way into the animal hospital, bringing her cat to see me. She called out to me: "Dr Simone, are you ok?" It never occurred to me that it might look odd to someone else. So yes, I did meditate today, but not for long. I did eat about half of my lunch mindfully. And it was good. I have found a few minutes every day this week. Tomorrow will be good. It's my day off, and I will attend a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction class at Duke Integrative Medicine in Durham. Although I only found a few minutes today, they were good minutes, and the benefit lasted much longer than that.
