Week 2 Blog 4....

Today's blog question is..How are you doing day by day...

I feel like I am working daily on improving my nutrition...

Today I read some more about nutrition..on Pinterest I pinned an article called 10 foods to never eat again...it had some interesting points and lots of the foods I never eat anyway..and the others is a good reminder if I do eat them to do so in moderation..

The 10 things were..white bread * packaged energy bars * white rice * conventional frozen meals * microwaved popcorn * diet anything * cured meat products * GMO foods * margarine * soy milk and soy products....just a little "food" for thought...

Another article I found was in an e-mail I receive from Canadian Living magazine called Nutrition month..31 days of healthy recipes & best tips...lots of reading and ideas there...more "food" for thought.

I made my yummy soup today from the 5% challenge recipe link..it was called Sayur Iodeh or veggie stew :) I left out a few of the ingredients and it was still delicious!! A little spicy so I have some majorly chapped lips ..that happens with spicy foods and cold weather....I made a huge pot so I'll have it for lunches for the rest of the week.

So the ways I can tell how I'm doing is if I am learning new things about nutrition; I am trying new foods and recipes; I am keeping up with my daily vitamin, green tea and water streaks ; I am tracking my food and staying within the range; and I am using spark for ideas, inspiration and encouragement..yes I did all that today...woo hoo me :)

Besides that ..my meals were..oatmeal and dates for breakfast, my soup and crackers for lunch...was really hungry when I came in from chores so had a protein and fruit and 2 cookies...supper was left over beef roast, rice and corn and fruit for dessert..snack will be green tea and maybe something else..calories permitting...

We are still busy digging out after the blizzard..hubby moved lots of snow and I helped with bales..taking twines off, then we worked with the pairs, had 5 calves so far today..one baby was tiny and has spent most of the day in the porch..more bottle feeding and one calf in the barn with a heifer for a momma needed a bottle too...then we ear tagged and turned out some pairs behind the barn..we have 19 calves so far...

I talked to one of my best friends today to see how they fared through the storm.. they had a horse go down and had to have it put down :( then their tractor broke down..so they are having their share of troubles...also told me of a friend of ours that we used to work with is very sick and the drs have given her 2 days to 1 week to live...so sad..she is about 10 years younger than me..more motivation for healthy lifestyle changes...

Today is our son's birthday..he lives in Saskatoon and is the youngest of our 3 children and the only boy..well man I should say..he turned 27 :) Talked to him on the phone to wish him a great day and he's off to a hockey game tonight and his girlfriend took the day off to spend it with him :)

I am relaxing and enjoying the hockey game Oilers and Blue Jackets are tied at 3. Looks like it may go into overtime ...

I'm really glad the blizzard stopped last night ..it was calm but cold when I took the 11:30 pm check last night...

    All that nutrition talk is making me healthy! Ok, I wish it was just that easy. I totally agree with the article on the 10 foods to stay away from. I eat the yogurt bars & they are pretty high in calories. I really need to eat more fruits & vege's. & less unhealthy stuff. So sorry about your ex coworker. And, your right what we put in our bodies can really wreak havoc if it's the wrong stuff. Here's to a healthy US! emoticon

    I like to try new recipes too! Oh, I bet you can work up quite an appetite doing the chores ya do! I can't think of anyone who works any harder than you do!

    Sorry about your friend. SO sad. I like that you said it will give you more motivation toward your healthy lifestyle.
It sounds to me like you are really staying on track and getting a ton of cardio with all that farm work.
I think calves are cute. Hope they all fair well in the weather. I always worry when I have little babies and there is cold and damp

    I gave up "deli meats" for lent. I am missing them a bit (for convenience) but not for much else as I am having more fish.
