Made a healthy snack choice... mostly!

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

A small thing to celebrate, maybe, but exciting nontheless. Didn't have much lunch and was hungry by 2:30. A couple of weeks ago I'd have just grabbed whatever sounded good, regardless of what was in it. Today I found myself looking for something high in protein because I have a hard time getting enough. So out came the homemade hummus and a can of tuna. Now the recipe I found suggested spreading a tortilla with hummus and adding tuna & veggies. Sounded good, but a tortilla is over 200 calories and I thought... that's a lot for something that's basically just a carrier for getting the filling into my mouth. So I grabbed a lettuce leaf instead. 3 calories. A little messier, but completely worth it. Had 20 grams of protein and 160 calories. Cannot go wrong.

Then I topped it with a can of Coke. Oh well, can't do everything right LOL

I am with you. I did the same thing the other day. Habit of mine to eat everything in sight when my hubby goes snowmobiling. This last time I actually looked for something and couldn't find anything so I ended up with 10 whole wheat crackers and an early dinner. Not much in someone elses eyes but when you see it as a success in YOUR eyes then that is exactly what it is. Good Job.

Never would have thought of using a cabbage leaf... that would work so much better! Thanks!

Great choice; although the Coke could have been passed over; however, you have already acknowledged that! emoticon emoticon
