I'm participating in the 5% Winter into Spring challenge, and our challenge this week is to blog. We are supposed to answer a question each day this week. So I'm catching up.
1) What new habit do you wish to develop?
I want to add more activity to my day. Not just exercise, but more activity in general. At work my day consists of sitting in front of a computer, and then I go home and I tend to want to sit either in front of the computer or in front of the TV. So I need more physical movement in my life.
2) How will you do that?
One excellent way is that I have started hand drumming with a djembe. That adds not only more movement into my day, but the rhythms are good for my brain.
So I will drum at least a little each day. I will start walking on my break at work with a friend, and I will dig out my step and put it in the living room for some exercising during commercials when I'm watching TV.
3) What are you doing to encourage yourself and keep on track?
I have added accountability by including my friend on my daily walks. Being a part of the 5% challenge and the BLC challenge motivates me to participate in the exercise challenges because I don't want to have to put zeroes down for the various team challenges.
4) How are you doing day by day?
So far I feel like I am doing good. I have drummed every day, which actually feels like a reward rather than a goal.
I am putting in more effort to get exercise back into my life.
