Spartan Race is getting close

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

I realized to today that it is only 2 and 1/2 months until the Spartan Race. That is both terrifying and exciting. I feel I've done all I can do to prepare. I've religiously exercised and worked on my running. And without knowing what the obstacles are going to be until I get there, there really isn't really anything I can really focus on. I've got some contacts on order, because earlier this year it hit me that I really don't want to be wearing my glasses through the mud, water and possible flames. I need to get some kind of gloves, because every video I've seen there is some kind of rope action going on. The last thing I need is to rope burn myself on the first obstacle and have to suffer throughout the race. Clothes wise, well weather will dictate what I wear but I've heard cotton is a bad idea all around. Water and mud + cotton = heavy clothes. I'm really hoping I don't have to do any penalty burpees. I mean my goal is just to finish, but if I could do it with completing every obstacle that would just be the cherry on top. Time really isn't a factor to me though. I just want to have a good time, finish and get my spartan medal! And I'd really like to reach out to my Montana Sparkers again. Consider doing the Spartan Race, it's in Kalispell on May 11th. It'll be a blast and maybe we can even meet up and have a little spark meeting lol!

How exciting! I have heard that it is crucial to be a good "planker" in these types of runs becuase you can stay low and get under obstacles without tearing your legs up if you have a good plank!
