Only with God

Galatians 3:3 Are you so foolish? After beginning by means of the Spirit, are you now trying to finish by means of the flesh?
This passage has come to mean a lot to me and I realise it can even mean something to getting healthy. I have accepted that I have an eating problem but even though I realise that I need to change the way I eat and don't excersise it is only with the help of God that this is possible it is only by means of the Spirit tht I can overcome

I am adding some verses where Bread and Word are mentioned.

Deuteronomy 8:3
And He humbled you and allowed you to hunger and fed you with manna, which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you recognize and personally know that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Lord.

Matthew 4:4
But He replied, It has been written, Man shall not live and be upheld and sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.

Amos 8:11
Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord God, when I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but [a famine] for hearing the words of the Lord.

You are right, gluttony is sin. Polluting our temples -bodies is also sin. And giving the Lord's place to food to comfort us is the biggest sin. It is like idolarity.
There is no answer for sin in the flesh, because flesh is the reason why we sin.
The answer for the sin of overeating is in the Spirit first and then it manifests itself in the flesh. (Losing weight and thinking obsessive thoughts about it is also sin)

I have noticed that if I replace food and eating thoughts with thoughts about verses I have learned off by heart, or just saying them in my mind, I see more victories in my life. Remember the WORD is also known as JESUS (John 1) and the Bible often talks about the WORD being our bread. So eat a regular diet of Word first, and start the fight in your mind.

I started February with giving up alcohol throughout lent, as beer goes straight to my belly! I am not Catholic, but believe in the sacrifice Christ made for us. I knew I could handle this for 40 days by promising "Him". So far, so good! The challenge has been to stay on my diet at the time!! Food and beer are my vices for stress release. Substituted with exercise . . . feeling good! Thanks to the good Lord!

I accepted my limitations, and like you, accepted my strengths though Him alone. Great blog in Christ Jesus!

That's absolutely true! Realizing we need help is a huge step. Knowing that help comes from God is bigger. Pray when you need help and He will be there.
