"A gentle reminder… Twine is mine!" ©

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

Well, here I go again....seems like I am constantly thinking and trying new things to keep the journey fresh and fun in order to ensure my successes along the way to the ultimate goal for my new lifestyle. Here is what I am doing now.....

I have, for a long time now, been putting little reminders around the house, ex: icebox doors, mirrors, doors around the house, the kitchen table, scotch taping them to my clothes, safety pinning them to my clothes, etc., but I feel that this one in particular will help me the most......I write a "Paula's Thoughts" or an encouraging reminder to myself of what to do for the day, what my goals are for the day/week, list a few things that I can NOW do that I WASN'T able to do when I first started my journey 4 years ago..... any miscellaneous little remind myself on a daily basis. I now write them on a 3x5 index card, 4x6 index card, scrape paper, napkin....anything... and then I use 2 punched holes and twine and hang them around my neck. For me, this allows me not to stray from what I'm doing. I have it always around me. I can read it or them as often as I need to. I may have one for the day, or I may need several for that particular day.

It may sound silly, or even crazy, but it is working for me. It is really hard to "try to get that extra bite or snack" when I have "myself & journey" hanging around my neck.

This may not work for anyone but me, but why not give it a try, just for a day and see how it works.

Whether I'm in my PJ's, daily clothes, or walking.....I have them hanging around my neck. It is working for me. Maybe it will for you. We sure don't need boredom in our journey.

Have a blessed day and wonderful journey to the new you!

There's a machine at my volunteer work that takes a stack of paper or cardstock and cuts it in a straight line. It is totally adjustable, so I have cut a stack of multicolored 3x5 cards in half and put a little punch in the corner and put them on a metal ring. So far I just have two sayings on it, but I'm hoping to grow it.. If you are interested in quotes at all.. here's one I got from a flylady testimonial..

Thanks to all of you for reading, posting and sharing your own ideas of your "reminding's". We are all working towards the same goal and it is so interesting of how we are "making the journey our own!"

Please continue on and pass it along and let's see what all is going on!

Again, thanks so much for sharing in the ride. Pass it on!

Love your idea. I have a ring binder with 3 x 5 cards. Now I know what to do with it.
Awesome idea

    Great idea!
And taking it one step further -- how about using one of those lanyards with the little pouch? You could slide in a card or note. You could even challenge yourself to make them very pretty, like l'il scrapbook pages almost. Build a whole stack of them that you could choose from each day!

I occasionally invent slogans and have t-shirts made for myself and/or wear my SparkPeople ones, etc. emoticon

The "twine is mine" idea is great; maybe think of five things so "twine" means more than just itchy brown string? :-)

Tasty beats fast
Working with others is more fun than working alone
I can do this!
Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night
. . .keeps me from exercising
Every mouthful counts
