the dreaded Daylight Savings Time

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

It's of my two least favorite weekends of the year. This Sunday we (i.e. people in most of US) move our clocks 'up' an hour. Total upset of physical routine...major upset of mental routine...I HATE IT.

The reasons for instituting DST have long since vanished (we have electric lights everywhere...duh)...and most people don't seem even to notice whether the sun's coming up or not--unless they are driving--and we just got to the point where my morning commute was in daylight. Now it will again be in darkness. Feels like the movie "Groundhog Day." We DID this once already this winter.

Since the only way to cope with the onslaught of DST is preparation, I'm rising 15 minutes earlier every 4 days; have been for half a week, so that when the clocks go forward Sunday morning...I'll already be there, grumpy and grousing--BUT AWAKE.

I thought I was the only one that hates it! I totally agree with you and always plan to do what you are doing, but the date sneaks up on me.

Yes, I agree we are long over due for a change.
Leave the darn clocks where they are.
