my thoughts today are revolving around how to kick unwanted habits.
i'm cleaning house, using a lot of water. after 4 weeks in Africa you realize what a precious substance this is. so why let the tap just run while you're wiping and scrubbing elsewhere? which got me to singing 'you can't always get what you want...' (who wrote that anyway, was it the rolling stones?)
and waste. we waste so much. did you realize that while a huge percentage of mankind is going hungry, and starvation is rampant in some places, we are throwing away close to 50% of the food we produce? a lot never leaves the fields because of 'imperfection'!
we get what we need (how lucky we are). so why the binging? that's a sure sign of lack or deficiency somewhere. probably not material lack, though. lack of care, of love. food is love.
get love, kick the food habit. get attention, excitement, purpose in life, whatever it is that's REALLY missing, to kick compensation habits. fill the void.
