Dumping Bottled Salad Dressings

Tuesday, March 05, 2013

Feeling bold, today I emptied my refrigerator and pantry of all bottled dressings. It puts the pressure on me to make my own from scratch each time, but almost every recipe I know for healthy dressing takes about 5 minutes to make and tastes wonderful. I think I can manage!

emoticon emoticon I love the Wishbone Thousand Island Light and if I could find a healthy recipe for that, I'd make it. Also, I love Paul Newman's Creamy Caesar Light that I can't find in the stores, but I sure can get it with my Caesar Chicken salad at McDonald's! I love it! I know that SP and other sites have some good ones and you've inspired me to check them out!

I agree! I'm trying the same thing but I don't have very many I love. Do you have any salad dressing recipes to share?

My favorite dressing of all time is equal parts of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. A little salt and black pepper on the greens, a little dressing, and YUM!

And when you don't have time, just a drizzle of olive oil & lemon or vinegar works wonders!

I've been wanting to learn how to make my own salad dressing. I have a recipe for Green Goddess, my favorite one, and I want to make it because I don't have a clue what half the ingredients in the store bought one are..

Good for you! My favorite dressings are the spritzer kind (getting harder to find) and a balsamic glaze we get at Whole Foods. It's potent, so I use less; it's fairly low in calories; and since it sticks to the salad, I rarely add the olive oil anymore.

Good for you. It is healthier to make your own dressings.

Impressive! When I am alone, I just use fresh lemon and lemon infused grapeseed oil, but for some reason, when I have company...all those bottles come out.

Big company dinner tonight... You have inspired me to lemon up!
