Split Pea Soup
1lb bag of green split peas, picked over to remove debris & small rocks, and rinsed.
2 one quart containers of chicken broth from Dollar Tree
2 onions chopped - these were on sale last week at Aldi's for 79 cents a bag
1 cup sliced celery
4 carrots peeled and diced
1 1/2 cups diced ham, from the last spiral that was on super deep sale in Feb - after cooking the ham I froze sandwich-size slices in individual baggies, & used several baggies' worth for the soup today. It's easier to dice when the meat is still partly frozen.
Seasonings to taste - I used salt and garlic powder.
This is the best split pea soup I've ever made. This is a light soup full of veggies - broth based not thick.
