Eating after Dinner, Part Deux

Monday, March 04, 2013

Hey Sparkies!

Thanks to all of you who commented on my blog, who gave suggestions and left resources for me to continue to grow in my journey. What a great Spark lesson -- when I have a problem, speak up, get suggestions and resources, and keep moving forward. I'm so thrilled, and can only say "thank you."

Today is "Night 2" of NO eating after dinner, and it feels pretty darn good. I've decided to start with two strategies: Eat more during the day (instead of only eating a total of 500-600 for breakfast and lunch) AND not eating anywhere in the house but in the kitchen.

So far so good!

In other news, I burned over 2,000 calories in exercise yesterday and today according to my Fitbit. (REALLY?) Maybe yesterday; we went hiking. It was over 8 miles, 20,000 steps, and 90 floors! But today? All I did was a bike class. Yes, it was hard. But I can't imagine I burned over 1,000 calories!

Today I was tired after class so instead of staying for Pilates or going walking on the city trail, we came home. I even took a nap this afternoon, and felt refreshed when I woke up. So I'm ready tomorrow to jump right back in! Hoo Rah!

Have a great tomorrow!

Burning that much, you'd naturally be hungry! It's good you keep track, so you'll know if you can add some calories on those very active days and still have a calorie deficit.

You're a fast worker! Way to go making the most of opportunity! That's impressive progress!

For me eating a good dose of protein at breakfast makes a big difference. I often eat 3 eggs, and if we have leftover chicken or salmon from dinner, that's also a good candidate. It helps dampen my appetite the rest of the day.

I thought I burned a lot of calories exercising (because I weigh so much) but that is awesome!
Many folks aim for 400 calories for breakfast (not hard if you can eat 2 fruits) and 400 for lunch.
