We went to a fitness depot re-sale store yesterday, called Boomerang, in Scarborough, and picked up a bunch of fun toys for working out. I found a set of 10lb dumbbells that would easily have been $14 apiece at Canadian Tire, and they were only $8! We also got an agility ladder (a thing that lies on the ground for you to hop in and out of), hurdles (don't get excited--they can't be more than six inches high each), and two tiny little hand weights, one for each boy. Then when we got home, our older son insisted we turn on one of the workout videos again--so I popped in one of my SparkPeople DVDs and we had a little family workout session! It was really cute and somewhat hilarious to watch them so seriously lifting their weights, and it struck me that they really, really are watching us to learn how to be. And watching them "climb" the agility ladder into the kitchen while we were making dinner later--well, I've got a very visual reminder now of why we are doing this and why it is that I want to lead a healthy lifestyle. My tiny little guys deserve to lead healthy lives, and I need to give them a great example!
