I arrived back in my flat around 11:30 last night, and I was so glad to be home I could have cried.
The Wall was amazing, and I loved seeing the Forbidden City and the Temple of Heaven and everything, but Beijing is not the city for me. There''s nothing major; it's not like it's a terrible place that nobody should ever go. There were just lots of little things that added up a bit too much for me.
And I didn't even get to see my friend : (
But still it was lovely to have a break and I loved doing all the touristy things. Here are some of my favourite photos:
Temple of Heaven
A lion, for keeping away demons
The Great Wall, which seems to be entirely made of stairs!
Me and the lovely bf at the top of the Wall
This is Fat Panda. He was everywhere, and I had to buy him because he made us laugh every time we saw him : )
The bf and I took hundreds of photos between us, but I do this weird thing on holidays where I take hardly any photos of the people I'm with and just snap pretty buildings and any unusual things or patterns that I find. So they'd probably be boring to anyone but me!
I've decided not to weigh in for a couple of days. You could almost see the salt on the in-flight meals, and the only food we could afford at Amsterdam airport was Maccy D's, so there is some serious water retention going on right now. Plus some other issues, which are a bit TMI for a public blog. SO I'm ignoring the scale til Wednesday, and using all my spare time not agonising about weight to down water like there's no tomorrow. Then I can assess any real damage with the full knowledge that yes, it is actually a gain. I am assuming I've gained - so many new foods to try!
I'm going to start getting ready for bed now. My jetlag was worse when we got to China, but it's definitely there on this side of the world too. Here's hoping I can sleep it away by tomorrow.
