Becoming a Child of God

Monday, March 04, 2013

I wrote this several years ago. Wanted to put it in a blog just in case I might lose this paper at some point.

"Becoming a Child of God"

Lord, I'm just a baby, teach me how to walk,
Teach me how to think and teach me how to talk.
May the words that I have to say
Be pleasing to You every day.

Lord, when I slip and fall as babies sometimes do,
Pick me up and help my eyes to stay on You.
Let my faith grow from one that's weak to one that's strong,
Help me to do what's right, instead of what's wrong.

Thank You, Lord, for keeping me in your sight,
I know You're holding onto me with all your might.
I feel the power of your love inside of me,
Molding me and forming me into what You want me to be.

Lord, never let go of me until You know,
There's nothing left of me that needs to grow.
Thank You for leading me from a baby to a child,
A child of God, one who can be meek and mild...

A child who can be proud to say,
Lord, I try hard to be like You in every way,
How am I doing, Lord, are you happy with me?
Am I the kind of person You want me to be?

Triumphant am I when the answer is "Yes",
and the Lord says, "You remind me of my Son, Jesus!"
Just to see the look on my Savior's face,
Lets me know that I've won the race.

I won the race by letting God teach me to walk,
Letting Him teach me how to think and how to talk.
I let God take a tight hold of me,
And I'll never let go, til I become what He wants me to be!
