Down 15.6 lbs and still going strong

Monday, March 04, 2013

I'm proud to say I've been able to drop another pound last week to bring me to 194.4 lbs. I don't remember the last time I was in the low 190's. I'm very pleased :) This means I've lost 15.6lbs since I started putting my health first again. I've also lost 1% body fat in the last few weeks.

Clean eating is truly the answer for me. I've adopted the clean eating mindset, which immediately rules out so many bad-for-me foods. I don't feel as deprived as I would if I was just avoiding them for caloric reasons. I look at those foods now (some are still in my house since I live with 2 grown men) and I tell myself "I can eat this, but I don't want to". It's such a powerful feeling!

My diet isn't 100% clean. However, it's cleaner than it has ever been. I've still been holding on to a jar of raspberry jam (I'm about 2tbsps away from empty) which I use maybe 1-2 times per week. Once I've emptied the jar, I'll make my own jam using agave or something (if it's even possible). If not, I'll give up on jam altogether.

Also, I've been emptying out a jar of regular peanut butter. I bought a jar of natural almond butter (no salt, no sugar) to replace the peanut butter once the jar is empty.

I also use preserved garlic (it comes pre-minced in a jar in a liquid that preserves it). Once I've used it up, I'll be sticking to fresh.

Like I said, my diet isn't 100% clean but I'm surely getting there. I make my own pasta and yesterday, I made my own 100% whole wheat bread for the first time. I used agave instead of sugar and the bread rose just fine (I wasn't sure it would). I made 4 artisan style loaves (I don't have bread pans) and I cut each loaf in half and then froze it. I don't eat a lot of bread so a half a loaf at a time is plenty. Also because it's a small oval loaf, the slices are probably equivalent to 1/2 sandwich bread slice.

I also started going to physiotherapy for my back pain and it has helped tremendously. I can do more and workout longer in the gym. Last week, I went to the gym 6 times. I'm usually so sore and tired at the end of the week that a 6th session is not feasible. I'm going to continue with physio and hope I just get better and better.

I hope everyone is doing great! Stay strong and positive :)

This is truly inspiring. Isn't it amazing, how cutting out things and making small changes, can make a big difference. Keep smiling and keep making those small changes. It will look good on you. I know what you mean about your back. emoticon
