Staging our condo to put on the market

Monday, March 04, 2013

Well, the painters have gone and we have "staged" most of our condo to put it on the market. Wow!!! I have to say, it looks pretty darn amazing! We were ruthless in clearing out clutter and only having furniture and accessories that added to the appearance of each room. I kind of feel like I'm living in a hotel or HGTV "Designed to Sell" home!

It feels nice to have everything so neat and clean. We still have the garage to clean out and paint, some new carpet to be installed in the basement, and a little touch up work outside in our courtyard, but otherwise we are good to go!

One thing that has slowed down our progess is all the snow we have had recently in the northwest burbs of Chicago. There has been 8" new inches of snow every week for the past three weeks, and another 8" is expected tonight and tomorrow. The snow has made it difficult to get some of the outdoor things done that we want to do, so they may not get done before we put our condo on the market. The good news on that front is that as long as it's cold and snowy, there aren't a lot of people looking at real estate...so we aren't missing much by not being on the market in this weather.

I know that it may take ages to sell, once we list the place. My mother has had her house on the market for over a year now. Our thinking is that as long as our condo isn't sold, we plan on enjoying the heck out of it in it's pristine state!

I feel very fortunate to be able to be even thinking of selling our condo, retiring to Tennessee and going on an extended self-supported bicycle trip.

Life is good!!

Isnt it funny how we never live the way that makes us feel at peace until we have to move! I wish you competitive bidders!
