Today i spent some of the morning making foods for us to eat this week. I got out a few kitchen tools which I rarely do, and went to town! I stewed apples and nutmeg and cinnamon, they taste so delicious and I had some later for lunch with a little whipped cream that I also prepared for our deserts. I cut up a pineapple and made some into salsa, so delicious with fish and pork, the rest is ready for us to eat. I made aioli in the food processor and with the left over egg whites made an omelette for my breakfast. I made a vinaigrette for us to use on this week's salads. And I made a Greek salad. After that I used the leftover vegetables and fruit to make a jug of juice.
Then off for a stint in the garden, planting a few orphan plants, sweeping up leaves, a bit of watering, which was just as well as although it looked like raining it never did.
Then off to the warm pool for aquacise, a new instructor gave me a really good workout and showed me some stretches. What a TREAT.
I ran some errands and got home in time for a phone call from my doctor's practice nurse. She had the results of a blood test from the end of January.
And what results!
She said she couldn't remember ever seeing such great cholesterol results.
This is a real turnaround for me. I have to attribute it to the eating plan I was on. I am in the consolidation phase of the Cura Romana, but had been doing stage one for 23 days when I had the blood work done. So I was eating very low fat and carbs, and only about 500 calories a day. Hardly surprising that my bloods showed it, I suppose. Except that I haven't really put much stock in the idea that you can turn around your health so very dramatically. The blood tests don't lie, though.
We'll both be interested in seeing what the results of my next test is, in a couple of months.
Anyway, that's enough excitement for one day. Have you had any good news today?
