2013.03.03: Sunday in a few words

After French toast for breakfast/brunch, after the sourdough working out great -- yay! --, and after the 'Vintage Market' and our rotation and a dinner with delicious tempeh, I rewatched "Bolt" with Ms. S.; it was new to her.

We both cried.

And it was a good day.

    I'm glad my starters have taken off -- started one batch, split in two, have fed separately, and already they grow at slightly different rates --, because while I was getting good growth out of one of them, the smell wasn't particularly "sour". But the bread has a delicious tang, rose nicely, has a great crumb, etc.

    And the starter has been great for making waffles and pancakes. Instead of my 'normal' vegan waffle recipe (made for Ms. S., but now I use it on occasion) of 1.5oz flour, 1/4 cup soy milk, a tsp. each of 'sugar', oil, and baking powder, with a pinch of salt and splash of vanilla, I can just use the starter, add a little sugar and oil and salt, and *maybe* add more liquid. A little baking powder and/or soda helps it expand a bit.
