Tasting While Cooking

I do real well on this for a while, then slip into my old, bad habit of tasting things while cooking. Every now and then I make a promise not to eat anything unless sitting and I have once again become very lax about that.
What will I do about it???
Starting tomorrow I will track the number of days I can go with eating nothing unless seated!!!

    Awww Carol- You are not the only one that does this!! It is very difficult not to do... especially when you have been doing it for years! I constantly struggle with this myself. Sometimes if I am making a cake (spark cake of course) or something and I get batter on my fingers from the dumping the bowl into the baking pan- it is sooo hard not to lick it off! When I do, I feel so guilty! The guilt helps me to avoid doing it though. I try to think of it like anything else. One or two tastes over a weeks time isn't going to hurt me much. Everything in moderation- even tasting while cooking. If anything is strictly off limits it makes it more difficult to overcome... at least for me.
You can do it though, I have faith in you!!

    I came to read your blog because that is also something I struggle with. My new habit is tracking and since the challenge started last week it has really helped me not taste while cooking. I was NOT successful with the not eating while standing challenge last time around but I know emoticon

    That is a really good habit to work on. I might take that up less. A couple of years ago I decided I would not eat in the car. it has made a big difference for me since I have a long commute every Friday and Monday. Best of luck with this.

    Yeah. I have the tasting while cooking problem myself. Actually, that's part of what made me realize how important tracking EVERYTHING into your mouth is! I was eating a good 200-300 calories of cheese just while making mac and cheese!

FlyChristi is right, if you eat it, count it! My tastes are much smaller since I started holidng myself accountable for every nibble!

    Good idea. You can also count the quantity you eat while cooking. You will be so afraid that, perhaps, you never eat like that again. Try it!
