So I went to my nephew's bday party today. If you read past blogs I've mentioned that parties and events like this are really hard for me and tend to derail my plans... I was surrounded by candy, cake, pizza, lemon bars, etc.. All sorts of very tempting goodies... It was a potluck so I told my sister I was bringing a veggie platter and fruit platter. The last few parties I went to didn't have any healthy options, so I brought my own this time!( This may be something I continue to do in the future) I said NO to all the sugary goodness! I was very amazed.... Surprisingly it wasn't THAT hard. I've had a few days practice of saying no to sugar and it DOES get easier. Yes, there were a few times I thought something looked REALLY good and I felt that familiar little pull to try "just one". I stopped and drank some water and had some apple slices or a sugar snap pea. Funny how you have to treat yourself like a child sometimes. Years as working as a preschool teacher and being a mommy have taught me that distraction is one of the greatest defenses.
Well I hope you all had an amazing weekend. Also, the blog before this has my plan for my no-sugar challenge. Titled: "Little Victories & March Challenge" :)
