My temperature guage says 27 degrees, but the sun is shining. What does a Wisconsin girl do? Put on the coat, hat, gloves, and walking shoes, of course! Oh, and sunglasses, too, for the glare off the six inches of snow on the ground.
What a gorgeous day! My hubby took the kids sledding on a nearby hill, and I walked the mile over to the hill to check out the fun and listen to their shrieks echo over the icy air. Without a pause, I stomped on the storm drain that my DH and I measured out as the one-mile marker, turned around, and headed home. Benefits: fresh air, Vitamin D from the sunshine, and a butt that forgot what hills were and may consider lifting itself up a bit.
Now onto Part II: The Wheat Revelation
I've given up wheat for Lent, and so far it's been very interesting and worthwhile. I can honestly say that I've only had wheat in my meals four times since Ash Wednesday. Not bad! However, last night, we made lasagna and garlic bread for some new friends of ours. Also...there was a birthday cake since my old Malamute is now eleven. Did I partake of these goodies? Oh, heck yeah! And it was worth it.
After the friends left at 8:30, we put our kiddos to bed and went downstairs to watch TV...where I proceeded to have just one more slice of cake...and the rest of the potato chips...and some pretzels, because hey, the potato chips were almost all gone as it was. You got it: my first binge in a few weeks. And what was the only thing different? I ate wheat flour products with my dinner.
Wheat = Binge? Quite possibly.
Back to wheat-free. (I did have leftover lasagna today because I loathe wasting food -- especially tasty food -- but that means I'll have to be extra diligent at dinner time and afterward.)
I especially want to get back to my good habits because -- wait for it -- my weigh-in put me at 144.6! Let's keep THAT up!
