Yoga Challenge Day 1 & Attitude

Sunday, March 03, 2013

I decided to get into a Yoga routine again in my efforts to jump start everything again. emoticon I did yoga about two years ago. I took a class and then I completed the challenge. I think the last challenge was a little longer though.

So I'm using Yoga Journal, and the 21 day challenge. You can select beginner or intermediate. The website is here: www.yogajournal.com/21da

I am doing the beginner one again. I started day 1 today! emoticon It was pretty easy. I like to do yoga in the morning for a good stretch. Lately my back has been bothering me so I hope this will help some. Sitting on the computer all day and night for work certainly works against me!

Day 1 was simple, like I said. It was about 22 minutes long. emoticon I dug out my yoga mat and cleaned in so it felt like a nice, fresh start. Speaking of yoga mats, I found this super cute one with white dragonflies. It's helpful to have something that looks fresh or relaxing.

I try to pick fun colors or colors that remind me of something "fresh." Like my Fitbit. I was going to get the green one because it looked like a Granny Smith Apple. Something fresh, healthy, and springy. emoticon I ended up with the pink one but it's bright and cheery.

This may sound weird. But think about it, when you get a new outfit to workout in, you feel refreshed and ready to go, don't you? emoticon We often wear a lot of black, especially for the slimming effect. But I would encourage you all to try more colors. It helps you feel more energized, at least when you put it on. People will notice that you look "brighter" or "cheerier" which will invoke conversation and help you to change your attitude too. emoticon As I type this I am remembering all this. Since I've put on a bit more weight again, I've moved away from this attitude myself. I'm going to try and break that again.

For example, I started a Zumba class 3 weeks ago. emoticon I wanted to get a new top, a sleeveless, cool, movable one. So I went to Old Navy. I typically like their workout clothes because they're not expensive and they're pretty comfortable. I got this one top that looked Zumba appropriate to me. They had it in bright pink/orange, black, purple, blue. I have the pink/orange one that I got last summer when I was playing tennis. emoticon So I was between the black and purple. I ended up with the purple! Now at Zumba I don't look like the "black blob" in the back of the class. I feel more fun, if you will.

Anyway, enough about that!

I don't think Fitbit cares too much about yoga. It was sticking its tongue out at me even after I finished. emoticon That's its way of saying that you're not being active. But that's ok. I know it's just looking at step movement, and there's really not much of that in yoga. emoticon But I feel good about it and I'm glad I did it. emoticon

In other news, I made the family my special vanilla-orange-almond waffles. emoticon ... but, I burnt my own. emoticon

Waiting for my wonderful boyfriend to come over. Moody-me needs to make up for last night with my homemade crepes and cappuccino tonight! emoticon

Trying to get tracking my food again. emoticon

By the way, I just ordered the new Spark book! emoticon It comes with two free DVDs and SparkCoach membership. emoticon emoticon It comes out May 7th. You get the bonuses if you pre-order. It is currently on sale on the Barns and Noble website. emoticon emoticon

Signing off, I hope everyone has a beautiful Sunday! emoticon
