Vacation Location feels like the edge of the world. It's virtually unknown as a vacation destination from the US, although it has a spectacular beach. It's fairly remote & the travel is somewhat arduous.
I would almost live there, at the edge of the world. There's a US expat community that centers around one particular bar, which is welcoming and fun but it's still a bar, and not a sustainable lifestyle for us. We go once or twice during vacation, but we don't hang out daily.
If we were entrepreneurial, we might open a yoga studio/natural foods restaurant in the town. In our worldview, that would make the town livable for us, but I don't know if it would be popular. People don't come to the edge of the world for their health.
I love it there but I want to live differently than the local culture and the expat culture. Maybe that means it's not the place for me.
