Well here is where things stand for now.
My husband and I are still in Boston, we have a big trip home planned for next week. We have a list of all the things we want to pack in the van so that we can be out of here for the end of May at the latest. If we can get home before this that would be even better.
Because of my medical needs I feel a bit apprehensive with the change of doctors etc. I am one of those people who have to like their doctors and feel comfortable with them. Going back to my heart and family doc is no problem. Finding a kidney specialist and an Endocrinologist etc. is a bit daunting.
Nicole faces another chemo treatment on March 6th. If her blood work etc. comes back OK. She does feel better from her bout of pneumonia. Still not back at 100% so is that the pneumonia or her chemo treatments or both?
Poor Nicole shaved her head. She could not deal with her hair coming out in her brush or left behind on the pillow so she took the step to have some control and shaved it. This was very tough for her. Nic had long hair just past her shoulders. She did not want to have a hair cut and was hoping that she would not loose her hair. Tough kid, not sure I would have been so brave!!
I bought her two lovely scarfs and have been looking at YouTube for tying idea's. I am also going to make her some head scarf jewellery, saw this on some of the Muslim sites. (We are not Muslim, but they have some lovely scarfs etc.) Some of the younger girls are wearing pins and beads in their head scarfs so I will have a go at that!!!
When we go home next week we will be there for a couple of weeks so that will be nice for us and the family too. Still trying to get the house in order for us to come back into. Trying to reabsorb all the stuff from the apartment. Working on the bedrooms so that the grand kids will have bedrooms etc. in case things go south quickly.
I just want to thank you for reading these blogs and leaving the little messages. It is really a boost to read these. There are days that are tough and having these little gems to read help, thank you!
This is our daughter Nicole and a lovely shawl that a fellow Sparkperson made. Now that was an act of kindness that our family will not forget. Thank you S.
