Challenge question #2

Specific question #2 is: How will you do that? This question makes no sense unless you realize it is building upon the first question: What new habit you wish to develop? And I think I already answered the second question along with the first question (thatís what I get for not reading all the questions ahead of time).

SoÖmy new habit is slow food over fast food. In order to accomplish that new habit, I plan to make more foods from scratch or visit sit-down restaurants, rather than what are known as fast food joints.

Iím not sure of the official definition of a fast food place (and I donít care to look it up at the moment), but I think it has much to do with having food already cooked or ready to slap onto a grill or into a fryolator when the customer comes in. In my mind, I have a hierarchy of fast food places, and I have ranked them from best to worst, though in reality, they are all probably pretty bad. Many have the reputation for serving foods that may or may not be the most healthful. Then again, sit-down restaurants also donít always serve the most healthful foods around Ė itís all in the demand from consumers.

In answering a question on some Spark Team or other yesterday (was it yesterday?), I realized fruits and vegetables (freggies, if you will) are probably the ultimate healthful fast food (and slow food, as they take time to grow Ė they are not made in a lab). And smoothies are made from freggies Ė and are quick to make, if you know where all the parts of your blender are and keep them clean (thatís a matter for another challenge).

    Good luck in your goal to achieve more slow food than fast food. I've come to the realization that it is just better and easier to eat at home. LOL. emoticon

    Eating out is always a problem as you don't really know the source of the food or the method of preparation. I like your last paragraph about how freggies are both the ultimate fast and slow foods!

    It can be hard to make healthy choices eating out because so much of what is served is just plain unhealthy. Even things that you might think are healthy are loaded with so much more fat, sugar & salt than anything you could make at home. Good luck with your habit. emoticon

    That's a very worthwhile habit to try to nurture. Yep, I think it all comes down to choices and having the right foods on hand to make those choices easier.

    I guess it all comes down to having those freggies handy in your fridge. We really can do this we just have to think!!!!! Good luck with your challenge.
