I'm sitting in my hotel room in Phoenix Arizona basking in the glow of personal accomplishment. Yesterday, I ran the first race of 2013 with two girlfriends that travelled here with me just to run a 10 k. Living in Idaho, it is difficult to train for a greater distance than that because you can only train on a treadmill and the snow! I ran the race in 55:00! A full 12 minutes faster than my first 10 k 7 months ago. I placed 96th overall out of 900 men and women, and 4th in the 40 to 45 women's group.
Last year at this time, I had only begun my weight loss journey and I hadn't even started running again. Now, here I am! When I look at that picture of me on the podium with my friends, I marvel at how small I look -- and not just short!
I CAN believe its me though. I've been there every step of the way!
