Changing a habit

Our assignment today on one of my teams was to pick a habit that we want to start. For me it is to start my 21 days vegan challenge. It is a challenge from Dr Neal Bernard, the health benefits are numerous, and I want to do it. But and I hate to even think of a but, it is a huge change for me. Love cheese and it is out of the food menu, so it sure will be hard. Tomorrow is day 1.

    You must be a part of the 5% challenge . . . what team? Oh man! I don't know if I could go vegan . . . but if it was better for me . . it would be a good reason to drive me in that direction. Keep up the good work and hang in there!!

    More power to you. I so enjoyed the post of African Sweet Potato Stew I made last week, one of several vegan dishes I prepare . . . but as a Wisconsinite (dairy state), I will remain a flexitarian while enjoying a few more vegetarian meals. My best to you as you accomplish this terrific goal one meal at a time. I do wish our restaurants offered more vegan dishes on their menus. I give you big kudos for your strength!

    Good luck on your vegan adventure! I did the 28-day Engine 2 plant strong challenge in Feb 2012 and have been eating mostly vegan since then. I found I had a lot more energy and when I started I lost about 5 lbs/month consistently for 3 or 4 months. I think just cutting out processed food is one of the keys. Giving up cheese is hard. I sneak a cheese stick every once in awhile, but don't buy them to keep in the house because previously I would eat too much of it. If it is there, I would eat it over any plant-based food. I have found though that usually when I am craving cheese, my body really wants the fat and/or protein that cheese provides. Avocados, almonds and baked tofu seem to help ease my cheese cravings and they also fill me up more than cheese.

    I once read, when a person can see the dimples on their thighs, it is the cheese that one eats that makes these dimples, and they disappear when it is discontinued. I wonder if this is true, maybe you can let me know? Good Luck in changing this habit and maybe tomorrow you can answer question two in the challenge.

    Inhope the challenge gives you some strategies for after the 21 days. My opinion is that some vegan choices are good but a varied omnivore diet is what our bodies evolved for. That said, you have an interesting challenge ahead. Best wishes-- it will be an eye opener, I'm sure.

    Woohoo go you....
I am on day 7 of a Daniel Fast which is vegan eating and I haven't had any problems at all kicking out the stuff that isn't part of the plan....
I normally eat Vegan however let stuff creep back in to my diet and wonder why I feel like crap again....dah!!!!!!
Must look up the Dr you mentioned and have a look at his program....
You can do this and you will feel amazing in a very short time....go you

    Oh my. I am a vegetarian, because I allow cheese as its a protein source, don't think I could go without it. I like mostly raw freggies and felt its gone a long way to keeping me healthy (I never catch colds or other viruses). I wish you all the best with it!
