Blog challenge week... sleep

So this week the spring challenge team I am on has a"Living the Good Life" challenge about blogs and creating new healthy habits. Each day has a question to blog about. The first question is "what new habit do you wish to develop?"

Wow, there are a list of habits I wish to develop, but for the sake of space, I will focus this week on sleep. I am a night owl through and through. But that does not work with our family schedules. Kids need to be ready for the day... school, lessons, etc. The little guy likes to wake up early, and I have lots to do to manage this household, homeschooling, church events, etc! When I stay up too late, I am completely wiped out in the morning. And that totally stinks! Then I'm crabby, things don't get some or turn into a disaster. It's just no good! So step one of identifying the problem is simply to get more sleep. This starts with not staying up so late.

    I'm working on this habit, too. I've always been a night owl but last week my hubby and I started trying to go to bed earlier and by early, I mean 10-10:30 p.m. Usually, 11:30 or later is the norm. It's difficult and weekends are always a bust. We never get to bed early in the summer because it's light until after 10 p.m. in North Dakota which is great for working outside. Anyway, good luck. emoticon

    I'm absolutely intolerable to be around if I'm not rested, but I sure do like to stay up late anyway. Good for you for making those changes! Sweet dreams!!

    Me too! I really need to start a routine to get myself to bed earlier. Only thing is, when I do, I usually am staring at the ceiling at 3:00 a.m.

    Well....I am writing this comment at 1:15 am....so I obviously relate :). I am going to be grouchy at church tomorrow...uhh later today. :).

My Mother used to quote "You can't soar with the eagles in the daytime if you hoot with the owls at night!" emoticon emoticon

    I am in the right crowd... am also a night owl.. hard to get to bed at night. wishing you all the best in trying to make this a habit of getting to bed earlier.. you can do it

    Woohoo for the night owls. I have been setting my bed time at 11:00 PM. I would like to go to bed earlier than than that but most nights it just doesn't happen. Great goal.

    I've always been a night owl but started going to bed at a decent hour this year. Good luck going to bed earlier. It really does make a difference. emoticon

    April, I can so relate to your blog. I too am a night owl, and I also homeschool and the have other responsibilities in our work on the mission field so I can relate. However, I do not have all the children you do. I imagine you must be a very good time manager over all!!!!! I too am crabby if I don't get enough sleep. Soooo I think you have chosen such a wonderful habit to work on, I've read how it's so important to weight loss to get enough sleep!!!! Great choice!!!! I know you can do it!!!!
