I work at a hospital in the department of gastroenterology and hepatology, and next month we're hosting a 5k walk/run fundraiser for colon cancer research.
I planned to participate, but I'm starting to think that I may not actually be able to walk that far at one stretch. That would be humiliating, and I'm kind of sick of being humiliated. I could do it for sure, but I know that when I'm not walking regularly, I get wicked cramps in my calves if I try to go any further than a mile, or less if I'm trying to keep up with someone else's pace.
There's exactly seven weeks between today and the 5k, and I intend to be ready to walk that whole 5k without limping.
When I started SparkPeople two years ago this month, I started with recording what I ate and doing laps around the block. I've now tracked what I've eaten for seven days in a row; I think the next step is doing those laps around the block.
I'm going to make myself a playlist right now...
