A week of questions and blogs...

Saturday, March 02, 2013

As part of the 5% Challenges, in addition to fitness, we always incorporate a challenge which is aimed at helping the members develop healthy new habits and encouraging success along the way.

This week's new habit is to blog and give feedback. I've seen it said here on Spark more than once - plus it's been reinforced by the Spark Coach program - that those who participate in the community (blogging included) are more successful in their journey. It makes sense to me... that way you're keeping your journey in mind, getting support and giving support.

Well, the question for the day today is "What new habit do you wish to develop?"

My new habit: I would love to develop better cooking / meal planning skills. I so frequently run short on time that I don't always take the time to prepare healthy meals. So I wind up compromising on the meals. Not the worst thing; but not the best all the time either. I think if I could improve my skills - like prep of fresh veggies - then I could save time. Also, if I learn to plan a little better; perhaps I could use my time more wisely by batch cooking and freezing. Lots to think about... plus, I need to save some planning for tomorrow's question...

DD has a competition tomorrow, so I'll be on the go. I hope I'll still be able to catch up with you all a little bit. Hope you're having a great weekend! Spark on my friends!

Keeping meals simple helps and batch cooking and freezing into portions.
Good luck to DD!

I love to batch cook and freeze the leftovers. I just haven't been doing it much lately... Meal planning is an awesome tool that I really need to do myself. you will do this... guess we justhave to set aside the time to actually plan what to eat and stick to it rather than jsut throwing something together... you will succeed... just keep on keeping on.

I have a difficult time setting aside time for meal-planning, but it works SO WELL when I do it! I think I will join you in this ariety. I love cooking, but do hate feeling like I'm throwing together ideas at the last minute.

You can do it... Batch cooking is a great way to get it started. At least that way, you always have something healthy ready to pop in the oven.

Good luck! Sounds like a worthy endeavor to me. Planning should make eating healthfully easier.

Meal planning is an amazing tool! I try to always spend some time on Sunday to plan out the week and prep whatever I can. Helps me tremendously! Good luck and great goal!
