The Interlaken Trailblazers know how to host an event. They took a popular route, added a few twists and made it a great day.
The Event started at Woodinville Fire and Rescue. The spaces in the lot were limited so these explorer scouts directed us to adjacent lots where the club had arranged for us to park.
The route started through town, but quickly hit the Sammamish River trail.
At about 4k, the YRE leaves the trail and heads west to Red Hook Brewery. Today the event had us turn east and wind through several tasting rooms. I had heard that there were over 90 wineries with a presence in town, but before today I doubt if I could have located 10. That number has increased. Even the historic Hollywood Schoolhouse hosts a winery.
Back to the trail. I headed south for an optional 5k extension. I saw some hooded Merganser and cormorant in the river along with one water bird I still haven't identified.
After a self-check, I returned to Woodinville on the trail, back through town and the start point.
A nice 15k walk and it didn't start raining until I was headed home.
