Two months down, FOREVER to go! I'm hoping that this time around, I can actually make a lifestyle change and not a temporary change... This month's results weren't as awesome as last month's, but slow and steady wins the race, right? I'm down 1.5 pounds from last month and lost 4.5 inches. If I count my losses since the beginning of this journey, I'm down a total of 4.5 pounds and 13.25 inches.
In the past month I have continued to work out three times per week, and two of those four weeks I exceeded my goal by working out four times! So, I've got the exercise thing down, and now I need to tackle my other problem: FOOD.
I like to eat! I'm not talking about celery and carrot sticks here, I'm talking about the good stuff: butter, pasta, dessert, bacon, tictacs... With the ranges that Spark People gives me, I do ok with carbs most days, I'm sometimes a little bit high on calories, I'm always WAAAAY over on fat, and I rarely eat enough protein.. This month I went on a two week craze where I was completely insatiable and ate over 2,000 calories every day (the two weeks where I upped my workouts to four per week). Luckily, my weight didn't increase, but I need to get my act together and knock it off...
I like healthy foods, but I don't CRAVE them... I need to try to cut back on the junk food and increase my intake of fruits, vegetables and protein. I also need to get more sleep and change the way I think about food, dieting and exercise.
I recently saw my doctor to discuss the results of a recent sleep study and to check in about my weight loss progress. My sleep study wasn't abnormal, so her guess is that the reason my insomnia is out of control is that my brain is overstimulated at night. So, she has me working on changing my "sleep hygiene" and has put in a consult for me to see Behavioral Health so that I can work on how I approach all of this weight loss stuff, can learn to de-stress and find a way to change my habits. We can all use a little therapy, and this is an area where I really need some help, so I'll take it! Bonus: my insurance will cover it all. :)
I have a lot of obstacles in my way while I make this journey toward my goal weight and life style change.. I will make it though! I have the support that I need from my husband John, my sister Tamara, and my friend Dana, as well as the support and resources of my doctor.
Stay tuned, because I'm a work in progress!
