Oh My decisions decisions

Saturday, March 02, 2013

I haven't been blogging much between working and not feeling well I never seem to have the time to think about writing things down. I have had this cold sinus thing going on for over a week and a half. I have tried several different medicines and nothing is helping. The worst thing is my ear. It feels like there is something in it and it keeps popping. My balance is being effected as well. I get thrown off balance when I move to quickly. I hope it ends soon.

I have been pondering recently about changing were my gym membership is. I like the gym I go to because it is close to home but the YMCA offers more perks. The gym I currently go to only has cardio equipment and weight lifting machines and equipment. I like that the Y has a pool, track, weight equipment, cardio equipment and a gym and fitness classes. The Y is a less expensive when I compare the family memberships. The Y's only con is it is 20 miles from home. I really would like to be able to use the pool but it may mean in the winter I may not make it to the gym because of snowy roads. Of course I have missed days at the gym close to home because of the weather. Then there is also the issue of gas money. In the summer I may not be able to make it to the gym because of the price of gas. It is such a hard decision. What shall I do??????? I really am unsure because I don't want to make the wrong decision.

My vote is to be honest with your time. 20 miles away means at least 20 minutes each way in good conditions. Now add 40 mins to your workout time...do you have that much time to devote to working out? You said you were looking at family rates so I am thinking you might have little ones you have to get back home for and if so then you add on babysitting and before you know it you'll have costed yourself out of working out due to babysitting $, gas $ and time.

I just joined the Y yesterday, and there are so many things I love about it, but for me convenience is key. I've been a member at gyms that were far away, and while it's definitely possible to make it work, it takes a lot of commitment, an i'd much rather spend the tine actually working out than driving to the gym. I think you've really got to sit down and see whether the pros outweigh the cons. Good luck with your decision!
