Running Down A Dream

Our 5% Challenge this week is blogging about new habits. I'm going to focus on my new habit: running!

When I say "running," I do actually mean running. See, I've been jogging for about two years. For me, that is between 5.0 and 5.4 MPH on the treadmill. I clock a bit fast when I do a 5k because the excitement brings out my energy and competitive spirit. But for the most part, I just plain jog.

New habit: Breaking the 6.0 MPH threshold.
SMART Goal:
Specific habit: Interval training. After I warm up, I plan to jog for 2-3 minutes and then do a 1 minute interval of actual running. I should be able to do a minimum of 5 intervals during a workout.
Measurable: I will train 3 times per week.
Attainable: I have a treadmill, and I've already done this twice. It was fine.
Relevant: Not only is 5k season about to begin, but this will also ensure that I get in my Starfish fitness minutes.
Timely: My first 5k is set for April 20. It would be great to beat my time of 33:13.
