this is my kids fast food(photos)

Saturday, March 02, 2013

my kids wanted fast food today but because of zakariyas allergy´s our fast food is not like the fast food you might know like mcdonalds etc.my fast food is all home made.what we had was also not really fast food because of the preparation i hd to do for it,lol.i also try to make our fast food as healthy as possible.don´t always succeed but try to say the least.as usual on a saturday have also my nephew who is a fussy eater so we let him decide what fast food he wanted which was falafel and chips.luckily i always have some pre soaked humus in my freezer as i soak a big batch and freeze then take out as and when needed.so cround the chick peas,parsley.garlic.oinion.alt
ogether with the fliesh wolf(we have an old fashioned hand one )so nothing fast about that mixed in some baking powder breadcrumbs(also homemade because of zakariya´s allergies)and mixed spices a bit of water and let it stand for hour before forming it in to small falafel balls.while waiting heated up oven.peeled and cut some potatoes into wedges and par cooked in water.cooked in hot water around 10 minutes then shocked them with cold water.spread on a baking tray.brushed olive oil on them with a pastry brush then sprinkled them with prue garlic powder and cayenne pepper(my kids like spicy things)put in the oven to cook for 15-20 minutes.then heated up a little oil in a pan and started cooking the falafel.while they were cooking chopped up the salad and made the yogurt sauce with low fat yogurt, dried mint and a squirt of fresh lemon juice.served them all with home made pitta brot which i made earlier when the oven was on for my baked potatoes i have cooked to have through the week.here are the photos hope you like them.the finished plate looks alot but remember i only eat and serve our meals on side plates so the kids think they are haveing more than they actually do lol.

    It looks wonderful!
I have to cook all of my son's fast food too. You are so right about it not being fast. LOL Truely fast food at our house is heated up leftovers. We have so many food allergies in our house that I have to cook almost everything. It makes it a bit tougher to lose weight when I have to stay out of the treats I make for my very thin son. Good luck to you. emoticon

Looks wonderful! Which food allergies does your child have? Younger dd has wheat, older garlic, peanut and walnut. If your child has wheat allergy you might be able to find gluten free bread crumbs. A bit spendy but can save alot of time. Love your idea of fast food. Wish I could be there to taste it!
